Generous Donation Makes a Difference for Cancer Patients

Members of the Searcy Fire Department and SFD Ladies Auxiliary recently donated a state-of-the-art, digital scale to the Unity Health Oncology Clinic in the Cancer Center of Excellence. This new instrument allows patients to be weighed easily and quickly and those in wheelchairs can be weighed without leaving their seat. Money was raised through a car wash and selling pink shirts that are still available for purchase at local fire departments.
This new piece of equipment will be fundamental in treating cancer patients. Each regimen of treatment dosage is based on weight. This easily accessible scale will provide accuracy and efficiency as patients are able to have their weight measured. The joint effort between the Searcy Fire Department, SFD Ladies Auxiliary and Unity Health Foundation formed a combination that will continue to provide a quality experience for patients and families at the Unity Health Cancer Center of Excellence.
"Our community is blessed with wonderful organizations like the Searcy Fire Department and SFD Ladies Auxiliary, who look for ways to serve others and improve local healthcare," Unity Health Foundation Executive Director, Cassandra Feltrop said. "We are so honored they chose to partner with us this year and their gift will have an impact on the care of our cancer patients for years to come."
