Unity Health Welcomes First Baby of 2017

Hospital news | Monday, April 8, 2019

Unity Health's New Life Center would like to welcome the first baby born at the hospital in 2017. Audrey Marie was born to Elizabeth Baird on Jan. 3. She was celebrated with a special gift basket donated by the Carousel Gift Shop and a warm welcome into the world by associates and physicians of the New Life Center at Unity Health — White County Medical Center.

With nearly 1,200 babies born in the New Life Center annually, the center has welcomed thousands of patients, babies and family members over the years. The Unity Health Foundation chose the New Life Center as its project to focus on for its most recent campaign.

"New life is cause for celebration! We are grateful for the support from our Unity Health family, as well as individuals, families and businesses from our community that have given and pledged gifts to the Foundation for our 'Miracles Happen Every Day' Campaign benefitting the New Life Center," said Cassandra Feltrop, Executive Director of the Unity Health Foundation. "We are truly blessed to have this support to continue bringing quality patient care and advancements in healthcare to our patients. We are excited about these wonderful enhancements that benefit mothers and babies, as well as their families."

The "Miracles Happen Every Day" campaign has helped provide our patients with an advanced fetal monitoring system; state-of-the-art nursery equipment; a new triage area with four spaces for patients; an upgraded infant security system; renovate six patient rooms into labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum (LDRP) suites; and new flooring throughout the New Life Center.

Renovations to patient suites include more amenities to help patients and their families feel right at home. Updates include: big-screen televisions, more seating for families, a sofa that folds out for sleeping and showers in all suites, custom built-in surface area with storage, and new rocking chairs.
