The Resident Council is intended to encourage all residents to communicate and exchange information with other residents relevant to their ACGME-accredited programs and their learning environment. It serves as a mechanism for residents to bring to the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) issues, problems, and concerns relating to the Graduate Medical Education Program. The Council is not intended to replace direct communication between the residents and the Designated Institutional Official or Program Directors, but rather to serve as a supplemental means to facilitate open and honest communication. The Council meets monthly and sends a representative to the GMEC meetings to speak on their behalf.
